Let’s Talk About Feelings! (5-12 Yesrs )

What Are Feelings?

Feelings are like little messengers inside us that help us understand how we feel about things. Sometimes they feel BIG, like when you’re super happy about winning a game, or a little scary, like when you’re nervous about trying something new.

Meet the Feelings Family!

  • Happy Harry: “Yay! I feel great when I spend time with my friends or play my favorite game!”
  • Sad Sally: “I feel like crying when I lose something special, and that’s okay.”
  • Angry Andy: “I feel like a volcano ready to explode when someone is unfair!”
  • Excited Ellie: “I can’t sit still when I’m looking forward to something fun!”
How to Understand Your Feelings

Use a “Feelings Chart” to point out how you’re feeling today. Are you feeling happy, sad, or a little confused? That’s okay!

What Can You Do About Big Feelings?
  • Breathe like a dragon! Take a deep breath in and blow out slowly.
  • Talk to someone. Share your feelings with a parent, teacher, or friend.
  • Draw it out. Use crayons to draw what’s on your mind.
